Garrett Brown is a technology and cybersecurity leader who helps businesses turn IT from a reactive cost center into a driver of growth, resilience, and competitive advantage. He works with mid-market and growth-stage organizations to navigate increasing cybersecurity risk, regulatory pressure, and the rapid emergence of AI. He is the Founder and President of Mantra Computing, an IT managed services firm he launched in 2002 to help organizations align technology with business outcomes.
Over the past two decades, Garrett has served as a trusted advisor to leadership teams, providing fractional CIO and CISO guidance to organizations facing complex technology, security, and operational challenges. His client experience includes organizations such as Vibram, Opensignal, and Spartan Race, along with a range of biotech and technology companies. He is known for helping organizations reduce risk, protect critical operations, and scale with confidence.
In 2018, Garrett founded Ihloom, a firm focused on data security, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Together, Mantra Computing and Ihloom provide an integrated approach that brings IT operations and cybersecurity under a single strategic framework.
Garrett’s perspective is shaped by both early exposure and real-world experience. Growing up, his entrepreneurial mother ran a software training company and filled their home with technology, including early Apple, IBM, and Commodore systems. He later built his career across healthcare and manufacturing environments, developing a practical understanding of how technology impacts operations.
He believes technology only works when it aligns with culture, designing systems around how people work, not just how technology functions.
Outside of his professional work, Garrett lives in Boston with his wife and three teenagers and is a semi-professional drummer who performs regularly in the Boston area with his band, The Passive Aggressives.
